I think that Abigail is the one to blame because she is the one who set Elizabeth up. She is also trying to get John to herself, so she is doing whatever it takes to be with him. Abigail is also using Marry to do her dirty work so she will have no blood on her hands. Abigail is trying to play the innocent card, so nobody will know what she is doing.

I agree with Wesley only because he made a good point. He said that Mary is doing her dirty work. Abby does hold blame because she starts it and she runs away from it. In the movie she had all the girls to follow her. They accuses everyone and acted out why. No one could win because of Abby's quick decision to go against it. So yeah its all Abby who caused this.

I agree with Wesley, Abigail did set Elizabeth up. She was trying so hard to get with John but John told her they never touched and it was over. Abigail then decided to set others up for doing the devils work. When she found out that John was going to be hung she became heart broke. She said that she never saw any of this coming for John. Abigail tried to talk John into leaving the town with her but he refused. John told Abby that the next time they would see each other would be in Hell. Abby was scared to find out what would happen at the witch trials so she left with her uncle's money on a ship.

Abby has the most blame for the trials. She starts all of this by drinking blood so Elizabeth would die, because she wants to marry John Proctor. Abby also have responsibility for Bettys death. She accused Tituba for witchcraft first. Tituba and Sara Good lost their mind before the end of the play. They thought that they would be hung so the acted like fools. Abby holds all the blame for all of this because she accused everyone. She also leaves Salem before they accused her for witchcraft.

I do not really think they would accuse Abby for witchcraft only because, her and her group of girls were the only people who said that they have seen the devil. Also I think that Abby was leaving because she wanted to take John Proctor with her and he said, he would not go with her to the Barbados.

They could of if Mary tried hard enough to get the other girls on her side. Also, why did Abby run away if she didn't think they would have accused her. I agree that she wanted John Proctor to go to Barbados with her but why would she go anyway. She could of stayed in Johns house and waited for John. So she could of been accused for witchcraft.

I believe that Abigail holds the most blame for the happenings in Salem. She accused several people for being witches to manipulate them. People like Giles Corey, Elizabeth Proctor, Rebecca Nurse, Martha Corey and John Proctor are all targeted by Abigail. The main person that she aims her anger at would be Elizabeth Proctor because she had an affair with John and wanted Elizabeth completely out of the picture. When threatened with being exposed, Abigail and her friends often accuse their critics. Since the girls were puritans, they had a strict code of ethics and dancing was looked extremely down upon. It was much easier to lie, and eventually Abagail gained satisfaction from the torment of others. When the witch trials came around, Abigail stole her uncles money and left the colony because everyone was getting tired of her accusing and she started accusing prominent members of the town which only made people start to doubt her more.

I agree with you but she also ran away because she realized that everything she did backfired in the end and John Proctor dies for her accusing of people. Not only that the other reason she ran away was because of all the people giving her dirty looks because of her Hugh lies and disrespect for the bible. Another reason she left is because there was a dagger thrown at the door of Mr. Parries house cause she is his niece and she probable felt that people will kill her for her lies. At first Mr. Parries only agreed cause he was also willing to do anything to protect himself so he is not kicked out of Salem cause people wish to drive him from there because he asked for the deed to the house and got it.

I have to say all the girls and people of Salem are to blame for witch hunt. The girls didn't want to get in trouble for what they did in the woods that night. They wanted to make some drama in the town to keep their minds off of what they were really doing. So they made up the whole, O there is a witch that put a spell on us.

I think that whatever Abby did everyone followed because they didn't want people know what they were actually doing out in the forest, which was not dancing with the devil. Abby was their leader so whatever she did they did so it looked like they all had danced with the devil. So when Abby had that control they asked if they had seen anyone else with the devil so she said Elizabeth so she could have John which actually turned the other way around since John got hung. So I believe that Abby was the blame for all of the Salem Witch trials.

I agree with Collin on this the girls listened to Abigail because I think they were scared they would be accused with witch craft as well. Abby would of probably accused them if they didn't agree that's why she stays out of so much trouble because she has so many on her side

In my opinion, Abigail Williams is the one to be blamed for most of the events that have to do with the witch trials. First of all, she accused multiple people for her own personal gain. For example, she wanted to be with John Proctor so she wanted to get Elizabeth out of the way that way she could be with him. She used Mary Warren and most of the others girls so she would not get in trouble for what she did in the woods and so she could accuse the people she did of being witches. If it were not for her, the witch trials would not have been brought up and these innocent people would not have died for a false accusation.

I agree with Robert, Abby has no care in the world about how other feel. Who would you want to be with a married man who has children of his own not only that but a wife. Abby needs to realize that John made a mistake and nothing was ever meant of it. John loves his wife and kids and would never leave the for a young girl who is way younger then him. How could someone be so selfish and try to take a mother away from her children and blame them of witch craft? John would of never lost his life if it wasn't for Abigail.

Abigail and the other girls are the ones who should hold the most blame. But we learn that both Abigail and John have told lies. They have deceived people about their past relationship, and they continue to lie about it. Abigail tells the truth that she was dancing in the woods and Betty took fright. However, Abby doesn’t tell anyone that she drank chicken blood so that his wife Elizabeth might die. Abby threatened the girls that if they said one word she would come to them with something sharp.

I believe Abigail Holds the most blame in the Salem Witch trials. Abby gets many innocent people killed and has no shame about it. She is a heartless young women and cares no less how anyone feels she just looks out for herself. Abby knows she has the power of revealing lies about witch craft so she takes horrible advantage. Abigail even takes control of her friends and threatens them with their lives. Abby makes them promise them not to open their mouth about the lies even when they know what they are doing is wrong.

I agree with what u say, but Danforth was the other one that is accountable for just as much as Abigail did cause even though he was a judge he did not really give people the time to prove themselves of not being a witch and also for putting so much trust in to the girls. He is also the one who have had all of the people hung, whats Ironic about that is that all of the puritans colony that believe in the bible they went up against because also in the bible it says that we can not choose when someone dies only he is suppose to but in the Salem trials Danforth goes up against the bible and has all of these people sent to death by him and when they were going to die.

To be honest, not to disrespect the bible or anything, but I am going to blame the people that want to take the bible to the extreme. I only say this because Abigail and all the other girls that were dancing in the woods did not want to get in trouble so they started to use the bible as an escape plan so they started accusing people left and right and a little bit later Abigail realized that they could put here closer to John if she gets rid of Elizabeth. So she does anything that is possible even if it means doing mean things and take the bible to the extreme, because at that time people believed that there were witches at that time so they also went up against the bible cause they started to hang people for witchcraft it is not for someone to decide when some one dies it is all up to god. I also am going to have to blame Danforth because he did not really care the only thing he cared about is hearing himself so he is also the one who sent all the people to be hanged. I mean you should take the bible serious but not that serious like with what they did at Salem trials.

I believe the blame of the Witch trials occurring in Salem are mainly the fault of Abigail and her "friends". She and the rest of her "friends" mainly accused people of being witches in their village to avoid trouble themselves. Their baseless claims forced the unesasary deaths of many innocent people. It also made others force to accuse others to save themselves. If not for their clames the mass hysteria over witch craft would not have ensued.

I think that Abby is the one to be blamed. She is the person who started blaming people of witch craft. When she started blaming people is when it got out of hand.
